State Bound: Girls Varsity Basketball Team Punches Ticket to 1A Tournament

For the first time in nearly twenty years, the Bush Girls Varsity Basketball team is headed to the state tournament.

On Thursday evening, February 20, the Blazers defeated Bear Creek, 43-39, to punch a ticket the 1A Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) State Tournament. This is the first time since 2006 the team has advanced to the state tournament.

The 1A State Tournament will kick off with opening round games on Friday, February 28.

The victory for the Blazers added to an already special season that included a 13-1 regular season record and Coho League champs. Kate H. '25 was named the All-Conference Most Valuable Player, while Head Coach Sara Fischer was named the Coach of the Year.
