TWICE AS NICE! Bush's Cal J. '24 and Bernie R. '24 Win Second-Straight State Doubles Title

For seniors Cal J. '24 and Bernie R. '24, there couldn’t be a better way for their Bush tennis careers to finish up.
 
The Bush Boys Tennis Doubles team capped of an historic run on Saturday by defeated University Prep 7-5, 6-2, to claim the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association 1B/2B/1A Doubles title on Saturday at the Yakima Tennis Club. This was the second straight year Cal and Bernie won the state title, and third consecutive doubles title for Cal. Earlier this academic year, the pair won the Emerald Sound Conference title. 

"It is an incredible feat to return to State for a second year in a row, let alone win the State Championship again. We are proud of all the hard work, leadership, and commitment that Cal and Bernie have poured into the tennis program," Associate Athletic Director Mel harrow said. "Congratulations, and thank you, to coaches Cara (Holloway) and Brad (Delahunty) for their work in leading our athletes." 
 
Cal and Bernie cruised through the state tournament that started on Friday, winning 6-0, 6-0, and advancing to the quarterfinals where they won 6-0, 6-2. On Saturday they defeated Eastside Prep 6-2-, 6-2 in the semifinals to advance to the final. 

It has been a fun year in Blazer athletics and watching the team of Cal and Bernie go back-to-back was quite a way to round out the athletic year," Mel said.
