Bush Board of Trustees: Meet 2024-2025 New Trustee, Nyasia Sarfo

This academic year we are highlighting the newest members of the Board of Trustees. We have asked our new Trustees a series of questions to help the community get to know them a bit better. Kicking off 2025 is Nyasia Sarfo.

Name: Nyasia S. Sarfo; Co-Chair, DEI Committee

Occupation: Microsoft, Global Business Programs Lead
My job is to help people become comfortable with being uncomfortable; as it is in those moments where we grow the most…in other words, I lead programs that help build a more inclusive and equitable work environment.

QUESTION AND ANSWER

Why do you serve on The Bush School Board of Trustees?
My commitment to our Board of Trustees stems from a deep desire to cultivate a community where intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and authenticity thrive. I'm driven by the belief that we can inspire and empower each other to create a more meaningful world. Serving as a role model for my daughter, Savannah '33, I hope to instill in her the importance of using her voice to make a positive impact, echoing the words of the late John Lewis: “Never, ever be afraid to make some noise, and get in good trouble..”.

How would your kids describe you? (from daughter Savannah)
New Yorker
Young and fun
Awesome Mom
Singer of Whitney Houston
Intelligent
Allergic to soooo many things

Current favorite show/series on Netflix/Hulu/Prime?
Hulu: Reasonable Doubt; Netflix: The Six Triple Eight; Prime: Harlem

Favorite spot on the Bush campus and why?
The Lower School drop off gate because I get to see Savannah walk into so many opportunities to be the best version of herself.
