A career fueled by a love of running and passion for making those around him better, Bush’s Duncan F.-S. '25 plans to do the same at the next level. On Friday afternoon, November 22, in front of family, friends, and Bush community members, Duncan signed to run cross country and track at Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island next fall.
“It’s super exciting,” Duncan said. “I’ve just loved having these last four years running with this group of kids, and excited to meet some new friends along the way, keep competing, and move up to the next level.”
For Duncan, finding a school that fit his academic needs first and then a running program, was his top priority. He’ll compete in a talented and competitive Ivy League that currently features Harvard’s Graham Blanks that competed in the Olympics.

“It just was the right academic and athletic fit for me, and I really liked the team and campus,” Duncan said. “It’s a competitive conference, and it should be fun to compete against some great competition.
For a majority of his four years on the Bush cross country team Duncan has served as the top runner. From his first year to senior season he went from 52 place at the 1A state meet to a recent third-place finish, dropping more than two minutes off his 5,000-meter time.
Duncan was also a key piece of Bush’s historic 2022 season that saw the team capture the Bob Firman Invitational Division II crown, claim the 1A District 2 title, and then go on to win the program’s first-ever boys cross country 1A state title. During the 2022 campaign, Duncan and Amaré Field '23, who now runs at Yale, were constantly pushing one another as the team’s top two runners.
This fall, while coming back from an injury, he guided the team to a second place showing at the Emerald Sound Conference, finishing in second place individually (16:11.26), and a runner-up finish at the state team where he ran a person-best and school-record time of 15:51 to capture third place. Individually he’s helped raise the standard of what can be done by blazing his own trail.
“Duncan has shown his teammates what they can be capable of. Through consistent training himself, he inspires his teammates to keep putting in the work. He encourages his teammates to keep training, and to work alongside him,” Bush Associate athletic Director Mel Harrow said. “The mileage and the training brought huge PR’s for the entire team this past season. He has grown the enjoyment of running within his team through planning runs throughout the summer and always encouraging teammates to run together.”
Duncan now will look to finish his Blazer career with a strong track season. He holds personal bests in the 3,200 of 9:12.60, which he ran at Arcadia Invitational in California and a 4:15.97 mile, which he achieved at the Brooks PR Invitational, both last spring.
“I’m hopeful we can accomplish some big things,” Duncan said of competing at Brown.
