Winter-Related School Communications

With the arrival of winter comes a reminder about weather-related school communications. For any school delays or cancellations due to weather, the school will communicate as follows: 
  • Flash Alert: Check Flash Alert to confirm a school delay or cancellation. Families can sign-up for email alerts from Flash Alert by clicking here:  https://www.flashalert.net/id/TheBushSchool This is a service used by independent and public schools in the Seattle area for this purpose.
  • Mass Notification System (Messages XR): You will receive a text, email, and/or voice message notifications, based on the contact information you have provided to the school regarding the school delay or cancellation. Only users that have added a phone number to their profile in the Bush Community Portal will receive a text and/or voice message.
  • Social Media: The school will also post updates on the school's Facebook and Instagram in the event of a cancellation or delay.
  • Email: The school will send out an email to the Blazer Bulletin email list in the case of a school delay or cancellation.

Please note:

  • The Bush School delays or closures will be posted on local news media school closure lists. 
  • We do NOT automatically follow the Seattle Public Schools in determining school delay or closure.
  • In the event school is canceled, Extended Day/morning care will also be canceled. Decisions concerning after-school rehearsals and practices/games will be made later in the day based on current weather conditions. Athletes should be prepared for practice time adjustments and/or virtual practice sessions.
