The Bush School Gift Policy

The Bush School is grateful to have so many talented faculty and staff who care for our students every day. Their work sustains our community and ensures that our students will leave school as engaged learners prepared to make a difference in the world around them.
This is a time of year when many families like to share their gratitude with their child’s teachers and Bush staff for everything they do. As we head into this season, we write to share a reminder of the school’s gift-giving policy as well as some of the ways we can come together to say “thank you”.
For families interested in sharing their appreciation to Bush faculty and staff, we encourage you to participate in the Families Association (FA) sponsored faculty and staff appreciation initiatives throughout the year.

As part of the school’s gift-giving policy, we discourage families from purchasing individual gifts for teachers and staff members, and hope instead you will join in these community appreciation efforts. In our school community, each family’s capacity to purchase gifts varies, and we strive to create an environment where all families’ contributions are valued equally. In some cases, the practice of purchasing gifts may give the appearance of student favoritism or a quid pro quo.

In addition to joining in the FA’s appreciation efforts, students and families are welcome to make cards or homemade gifts/treats as another way to show gratitude.
